Edward’s Trust is a specialist holistic bereavement charity, based in Birmingham, providing support to families across the West Midlands. Its mission is to stand beside bereaved parents, children and young people offering professional and compassionate care. The Edward’s Trust’s Black Country Project aims to provide support and counselling to bereaved parents, children and young people in Dudley, Wolverhampton and Sandwell.

This outreach project provides accessible specialist counselling, bereavement support, advice and information. Many bereaved children/young people have poor long-term outcomes if they do not receive meaningful support.

Children, young people and their families are offered support in community-based locations reducing the need to travel a long distance. The Trust’s Black Country locations bring expert bereavement counselling and emotional support to bereaved families closer to home.

Positive progress may be demonstrated in talking about feelings; getting on with family and friends; sleeping, eating, having fun and enjoying things. It is hoped that the children and young people will be supported to remain in education, demonstrate improved wellbeing and show a more positive outlook on their future.
