What is Co-Funding?

Co-funding with the ALMT allows individuals, other Trusts and Foundations, and Companies to contribute funds directly to individual, vetted and approved, project partnerships. With fifteen years of experience awarding grants and working in partnership with children’s organisations around the world, the ALMT is best placed to support you in your philanthropy.

The transition from primary to secondary school can be daunting, involving new teachers, subjects, and potentially a whole new social circle, requiring children to adapt to a larger environment and increased independence. Neurodivergent and SEND young people are those most likely to struggle. The Theatre Shed’s specialist skills and inclusive practice expertly support and includes these young people, enhancing their independence and confidence.

Transitioning year 7 students at Chiltern Hills Academy will be supported by experienced facilitators, who will utilise games and play to establish a culture where it is safe to be yourself, try new things and make mistakes. Young people will celebrate difference, increase confidence, self-esteem, a sense of belonging, form new friendships and improve mental health and wellbeing which will support their resilience. This is especially important for neurodivergent and SEND students for whom adjusting to change is challenging.

This performing arts-based outreach project includes:

  • Summer Holiday play-based workshops for year 7 students to familiarise themselves with a new environment and begin to form friendships.
  • Weekly drama workshops for a targeted year 7 class.
  • Access to The Theatre Shed’s Youth Theatre with bursaries to overcome financial barriers.
  • Wellbeing prompts and learnings communicated via assemblies and posters.
