Midland Doctors Medical Institute (MDMI) provides coverage across a vast region of Pakistan administered Kashmir for those who can’t afford any healthcare. There are approximately 4 operating ventilators for a population of 4 million in the region.
Midland Doctors is aware that the pandemic is putting pressure on the most established of health systems and so is working closely with the government and other healthcare providers to ensure that the local system can cope with the potential pressure of the pandemic.
This project is providing 120 ventilator days and 180 Continuous Positive Air Pressure days for patients with the virus as well as strengthening paediatric care, providing staff with vital PPE equipment, and educating the community about the importance of hygiene and social distancing.
The ALMT funding is strengthening the facilities at the Midland Doctors Medical Institute so that post the Covid-19 crisis the centre can continue to be an important asset for healthcare in the region delivering vital health care for children and their families.
