Epic Partners is a community based charity that uses support, networks and diversionary activities to enrich the lives of children, young people and families
Co-funding with the ALMT allows individuals, other Trusts and Foundations, and Companies to contribute funds directly to individual, vetted and approved, project partnerships. With fifteen years of experience awarding grants and working in partnership with children’s organisations around the world, the ALMT is best placed to support you in your philanthropy.
EPIC works in communities ranked in the bottom 3% nationally for deprivation (Index of Multiple Deprivation), with high levels of poverty, violent crime and educational exclusion. Over 80% of the young people have at least one Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) – experiences such as neglect, domestic violence, parental substance misuse, or poverty, which significantly impact mental health, behaviour, school engagement and long-term wellbeing, and more than 50% experience four or more ACEs.
This pilot project will deliver a targeted support programme for 25 children and young people aged 8–16 identified as having high levels of need related to ACEs. Trained mentors will work closely with a matched participant, families, schools, and key professionals, developing holistic personal development plans that focus on building resilience, improving emotional wellbeing and strengthening relationships.
Young people will also be supported to access positive community activities such as multi-sports, youth clubs, creative sessions and holiday provision to develop social skills, enjoy physical activity and begin to build a sense of belonging and identity outside of their challenges.
Wider drop-in and group-based activities will support a further 400 children and young people to strengthen protective factors such as physical wellbeing, community connection and positive peer relationships.
