Corporate Social Responsibility
Building a relationship with a business, no matter how big or small, makes a world of difference to the ALMT. It offers a new platform and audience with which to share the Trust's achievements. It provides a professional image and no matter how much money the partnership raises, it can engage staff and consumers alike, encourage charitable giving within your organisation and truly impact the lives of the ALMT’s beneficiaries.
RenaissanceRe
In July 2017, RenaissanceRe chose the ALMT as their long-term charity partner and three years later the partnership is still going from strength to strength.
RenaissanceRe were drawn to the diversity and breadth of projects that the ALMT supports and have fully immersed themselves into co-funding, meeting ALMT charity partners and going above and beyond in their fundraising endeavours.
Over the last three years RenRe employees have taken part in the Berlin marathon, the British 10K, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, shaved their heads, completed the 100 mile Prudential RideLondon cycle event as well as taking part in the great RenRe bake off!
This partnership is not only about fundraising and adventure ; at its very heart it is about co-funding and the ALMT’s links to incredible, small organisations. These organisations continue to inspire and motivate the team at RenRe. Members of the team now regularly volunteer for ALMT charity partners in their free time and plans have been laid to begin matching charity partners with skilled individuals from RenRe who can offer pro-bono time in areas such as finance and accounting, spreadsheets and programmes in legal advice and support.
RenRe has a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee that regularly receives charity partner updates and funding proposals from the ALMT. It reaches out to employees who are not only able to see the impact of their donations but also play an active role in deciding where their funds will be distributed. The company also offers a matched giving programme which further leverages the money they raise and donates to the ALMT and its charity partners. RenRe employees are also able to nominate organisations they would like to see supported and the ALMT then carries out the necessary due diligence and research and works with the nominated charity on putting together an application to the ALMT board.
The ALMT makes regular visits to the team at RenRE to talk about co-funding and fundraising, as well as introducing charity speakers and organising project visits. Members of the CSR committee have also participated in ALMT board meetings and have been welcomed at engagement occasions and fundraising events. This is a partnership that has grown and developed over the past three years into one that gives everyone a voice, is an open platform for discussion and has built some lifelong connections between the team at RenRe and some amazing small organisations.
Black Leaf Events
Hire the Barman have been a partner for almost two years and frequently offer their expertise, showmanship and skills behind the bar at ALMT events. They also offer raffle and auction prizes that are in high demand from our guests. These services could cost the ALMT thousands and, in return, the Trust provides them a fresh audience, exposure and new business contacts. Award winning mixologist, Michael Stringer, shares his experience of working with the Trust.
'I have been helping to tend bar at ALMT events for around two years now with the team from ALMT. The level of quality and exceptional organisation which goes into every event is outstanding. From teaching cocktails from flight trollies at individual tables, to running a dispense bar for reception drinks, we always have great fun when working with the team.
Seeing the generosity of the guests who attend the functions is great to watch and knowing that we are helping contribute to the funds raised for such a worthy cause is an amazing feeling and we hope to keep the relationship for many years to come.'
Building the partnership
The ALMT understands that any partnership it builds, whether it’s with a big corporation or a smaller independent company, must be mutually beneficial, ethical and rewarding for both parties. Can your professional skills benefit the ALMT? The Trust is always on the lookout for pro-bono advice and support and would welcome your expertise into the organisation. Does your company have a charity partner? Keep an eye out for charity nomination dates.
