Responding to Covid-19 - Providing Support for Young Care Leavers
Providing recreational, creative and educational activities for children and young people separated by Care.
As a result of the Covid-19 crisis many careleavers have found themselves stranded at their place of residence or university, without family support and assistance. For many, isolation triggers memories of early childhood neglect or abandonment. These young people are no longer able to work, as their part time jobs have disappeared, and their costs have gone up.
Siblings Together has been working hard to provide creative activities online to ensure people are able to link to each other and reduce a sense of isolation. Offering a vital connection within a creative, safe, community space online, is highly important at this time of dreadful fear and worry.
This project aims to provide emergency food and cover mobile phone bill costs for to up to 100 young careleavers who are the most in need. Siblings Together are offering creative activities for this group and supporting them on an individual basis.
This project was generously supported by our co-funders and The Rosemarie Nathanson Charitable Trust
