Magic Breakfast - UK
Responding to Covid-19 - Providing Breakfasts for Hungry Children

Providing healthy school breakfasts to children at risk of hunger in disadvantaged areas of the UK.
Years: 2020

4.1 million children in the UK are living in poverty, with as many as 1.8 million school age children considered to be at risk of hunger. Prior to the current crisis, Magic Breakfast worked in schools to provide free and nutritious breakfasts for children in order to help them learn.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Magic Breakfast remains as determined as ever to provide children at risk of hunger with access to a free, nutritious breakfast at the start of the day. What they do is critical - Magic Breakfast is a lifeline for children who often have no food at home, and for parents/carers who can take comfort in knowing their children will be fed at the beginning of the day.
The safety of families and school communities is of upmost importance. Magic Breakfast have been working closely with the Department of Education to ensure that social distancing and hygiene practices are maintained to a high level at all stages in both collection and delivery, and that all schools and volunteers are given up-to-date guidance.
This project has enabled Magic Breakfast to provide take-home breakfast provision for 2,252 children and has been made possible with the generous support of our co-funders and our corporate partner RenaissanceRe
