Epic Arts - Cambodia
The Angus Lawson Arts Centre
Epic Arts believes in a world where Every Person Counts (Epic) and where people with disabilities are valued, accepted and respected. They promote integration of people of all abilities and disabilities through the arts as a form of expression, transformation and empowerment.
Epic hired one building for their artistic workshops which had no wheelchair access to the main workshop and was confining in many ways. Epic Arts approached ALMT as they wanted to establish a purpose built building for its workshops and for it to act as an outreach to the marginalised and neglected deaf and disabled community in Kampot, southern Cambodia.
The ALMT part funded the main construction and the centre was named the Angus Lawson Arts Centre.
The centre is a tremendous resource for both able bodied and disabled children in Kampot and is now the mainstay of Epic Arts work in Cambodia. Building started in November/December 2007 with a 12 month construction timeline.
