Chris's funsraiser for the ALMT went swimmingly.
Last weekend Chris raised a fantastic £1,190 for the ALMT by diving into the Thames for a mile long swim. He said: “I wasn’t able to break the 30 minute mark & finished in 32:47 which was 969th overall (out of around 5,000) and 113th in my age/gender group category. It was a great day (and quite warm) and I really enjoyed the swim which was very different to swimming in a pool. My tactic of starting at the back of the group (that’s me with my arm up in the middle in the first photo) so that I could have a clear trouble free swim was not a good one, as the start very slow and congested so the first 50 metres was frustratingly all mostly breaststroke. At the half way 800m mark where we turned around it became congested again and there was lots of colliding and water swallowing plus an elbow in the face which I was on the receiving end of, all accidental I am sure”.
He thanked everyone for supporting him and for all of the donations received.
None of the work of the trust could be carried out without the enormous generosity of our supporters. To find out more about fundraising for the ALMT or the work the trust supports please visit our projects pages.
