Back in 2007 the ALMT made a large donation to set up the Angus Lawson Centre in Morocco to transform children's lives in treating patients with cleft lips, cleft palates and facial deformities. The £41,000 grant was used to establish the centre which is now treating 1800 children every month.
Project partner Operation Smile which carries out this fantastic work wrote to the trust to update the ALMT on its continued success. Trusts & Foundations Manager Pippa Fawcett said: "The Angus Lawson Centre in Morocco continues to flourish and we are seeing a general growth in activity throughout Morocco. In excess of 1800 patients each month are being treated by the Angus Lawson Centre and there is a program of regular training for medical and dental personnel.
Perhaps most rewarding of all is the knowledge that more centres have been opened across the world and more are planned. This is the substantial legacy which has been born out of the generosity of the Angus Lawson Memorial Trust. I am sure you will be delighted to know that the Casablanca centre is regarded as a template for our others. Here in the UK we have provided support for four new centres in India and another is planned in Ethiopia.
We are delighted that the Angus Lawson Centre is such a success and I thank you again for your support and generosity.”
