Child Headed Families Project (South Africa) June 2009

In South Africa we have given an additional £2,000 to our Child Headed Families Project. After schoolgirl Hannah Good read our report online she decided to have a fund raising day at her school in Blackheath to raise funds for the project. We at the ALMT pledged to match anything she raised. Hannah and her classmates  raised a staggering £1,000 from a variety of events and we are very grateful to them all. You may remember back in November 2007 we gave £25,000 to this project to create bursaries for the children  ChildHeadedProject   My sister is currently at the Khanya Family Centre in Johannesburg, which is part of the project. Although she is very impressed by the operation she cannot but not feel overwhelmed by issues they face. The Centre offers therapy and support to young people affected by the political violence, crime and AIDS. She, along with her husband Guy is developing marketing materials to help attract future donors and sponsors as well as helping out at the creche and after school care centre for orphaned children.
