BREAKING NEWS | |
Jenni Thomas OBE on the Independent on Sunday's Happy List 2015
Now in its eighth year, the Independent on Sunday's Happy list honours 100 people who make Britain a happier place to live. Nominated by members of the public, the list recognises individuals who give rather than take and we are so proud that Jenni Thomas OBE was one of this year’s amazing 100. In the words of the Independent on Sunday "...unlike other lists, the Happy List is not a crass hierarchy but a completely unranked celebration of good deeds, large and small." |

Village Water - Zambia | |
This project will support three schools in Zambia and up to 15 feeder communities. Village Water start by providing hygiene education so that pupils understand the link with ill health and to encourage them to change their habits to reduce waterborne diseases. They then install a safe water point with parents helping with labour and contributing sand and stones. The pupils take part in a number of activities and build simple tippy tap hand washing stations throughout the school. |
|
Street Child United - Philippines
In 2016 Street Child United will host the first ever Street Child Games in Rio de Janeiro ahead of the Olympics. ALMT supported Team Philippines will be invited to represent the estimated 2,000,000 children living and working on the streets of their country. They will be delegates at the unique international congress of former street children, who will work together to produce a resolution compiled of their recommendations for a nation that is fair to street children.
New Generation Burundi
There is an estimated 600,000 orphans and street children deriving from conflict, poverty and/or Aids in Burundi. Working with New Generation Partners, this co-funded programme, the Road to School, will use an outreach programme, provisions and a counsellor in this holistic street child programme to transform physical and emotional well-being and education.
Grief Encounter - UK | |
To ensure the ALMT's Grief and Bereavement Support Service continues to run and support families long into the future, the ALMT approached Grief Encounter to become an ALMT partner.
