St. Mark's School Visit and unveiling of the plaque

On the morning of the 24th of January the ALMT went to St. Marks School in Kennington to unveil a plaque. ALMT has been supporting Springboard for Children, a charity that offer schools a programme of intensive, tailor made literacy tuition enabling barely literate and emotionally bruised children to overcome their learning difficulties.

Mrs. Denise Lawson (Angus' Grandmother) unveiled the plaque which now hangs in the schools entrance. It is in perfect eye height with both charities names on. They stand out with their bright bold colours, as if adding strength to the kids on the programme.

We were shown the Springboard room and sat with the children as they were being taught words and spelling through games. Just from entering the room one could immediately feel how comforting, warm and uplifting the small teaching room was, giving the children the opportunity to raise their expectations of them selves and their ability to achieve. At the end of the lesson the Springboard children presented Mrs. Denise Lawson with a book they made for Nick and Kara.

It was a lovely morning and wonderful to see what a huge impact the Springboard for Children has had.
